A Short Test of Random Knowledge

Hello! I realized that the blog needs more audience interaction. So, here's a quiz to spice things up. It contains trivia questions on assorted topics I happened to think up. If you can answer all the questions correctly, it means that you either think like me or also have too much spare time. Either way, it's a nice way to spend time.

Another nice way to spend time is to read this webcomic. It's a parody of Romeo and Juliet using authentic videogame engrish and character graphics. Funny as hell in my opinion.

A moment of silence...

...And no, it's not for the Death of Cardinal Sin. He already has a lot of bloggers mourning him so I won't need to jump on the bandwagon.

I am here to mourn the death of democracy in the country.

Moment over.

Ok now, onto the meat of the post. I don't have anything particularly deep or lengthy to post today. I think I'll just settle for another collage of weird and wild stories, rants, and whatnot.

1) Considering how many "damsel in distress" stories there have been in the history of pop culture and literature, don't you think it's silly how these damsels never figured out how to defend themselves? I mean, all those women getting kidnapped by evil villains--you'd think they would have learned some karate by now to protect themselves.

And dont' start telling me how these stories were concocted by men. Folktales which first began this literary device found themselves being spread by women and housewives as much as the men. Blame the culture, not just men.

2) What's easier to do: die for a loved one or to live for a loved one? I pass this on to you (use the chatterbox to elaborate on your answers). Depending on the answers, I will write some sort of story around the concept. Don't expect mush though--you know me. I don't do mush.

3) As much as we'd hate to admit it, the binary is still the basic unit of human logic. In the end, we judge all things as either good or bad, black or white.

4) My persocom (personal computer, not sexy android) died today. I called her Percy and she finally, after serving me well for around a year, finally decided to call it quits. I will miss her. She brought me great joy, and was a big help to me during my thesis days. She was a good friend, my fine companion, and most importantly centerpiece of my room. Percy, I will miss you--until of course I decide to revive you and replace your hardware from ground-up. Time will tell.

5) Speaking of androids, Chi is so thin that if she were a real girl, she would fall over at the slightest gust of wind. Just wanted to point out how ridiculously thin character designs in anime have become.

6) Whose idea was it to put Robin in a leotard anyway?

7) Also, does anyone have comic book scans of Wonder Woman in her boxers? Yeah, before wearing that silly American-flag bikini she had boxers, and it made her look too stupid for words. Speak of which, why don't we start a petition to have Darna wearing boxers? She already has that weird shower-cap anyway.

8) I'd also want to know where I can find the comic book "Red Son." I think it's an alternate universe story where Superman landed in the USSR instead of America and became a communist superhero. Cool--just imagine the very symbol of American pop-culture being a commie.

9) Speaking of commies, I think they should shut the hell up. Especially the ones in this country. They won't be happy until they're running the government. Someone should take a sickle and hammer it into their heads (lame humor I know).

10) The senators in this country should all just commit mass-seppuku. Why are they delaying their agony? They're going to hell anyway. If they die now, they won't get punished for the future crimes they will commit.

Yan na muna.

The War

Have you ever thought of why the AFP has been fighting the same war against the communists and the separatists for decades now? The reason used to be because these forces were a threat to national security, and had the potential to break the country apart. Once upon a time, the war was a tool for upholding national security and the welfare of the Filipino people.

Now, the war is fought not as a means to an end but as the end in itself. The war is an instrument of power and chaos. The government we have thrives on chaos. The worse the disparity between rich and poor, the better. The more poor people there are, the better. Government knows this for a fact: the poor are easily manipulated, easily malleable, and controlling them is as easy as giving them a few handouts on a regular basis. You cannot control the rich that way, and it takes an infinitely bigger sum of money to pay off a rich guy compared to a poor guy. Hence, the government likes poverty. The government has no plans to cure poverty, because poverty is the leash by which they hold the poor by their collars.

How does this relate to the constant ongoing wars in the country? War is the ultimate means by which a government can manipulate and maintain the status of the poor. War causes disorder, pain, and suffering. It destroys jobs, lives, and the economy. Also, the military likes war. Majority of their soldiers come from the poor, wars cause poverty, and the poor fuel the military with manpower. Hence they want to keep things that way. These poor soldiers who have sacrificed their humanity to become mindless, heartless killers do so in order to drive more of their fellow Filipinos into poverty and chaos, perpetuating the breeding ground for even more soldiers who will later commit the same sin of treacheryt upon their fellow Filipinos because they were too stupid to think for themselves. A soldier is an automaton. To his superiors he is not ahuman being but a resource and tool. He is a number, a casualty, a statistic. He is the seed of chaos and further poverty.

Wars breed soldiers, and soldiers breed war. There would be no wars if there were no soldiers to fight them. No fighters, no fight, simple as that. "National defense" is a euphemism for the perpetuation of war. War in turn breeds fear, the great mind-killer. Fear breeds inequality, poverty and hopelessness.

Random Ramblings

1) More on THE TAPE: the reason, I think, why the president won't comment on it it that she can't deny that it was her voice on the tape. So now, she's doing the next best thing: pay some guy to say he taped the conversation then have him recant a few days later. Sergeant Doble, I'm looking at you. If this country goes to hell because you allowed the demoness to buy your soul, I sincerely think Satan will have your immortal soul. If you happen to be telling the truth, then fine. But I don't trust you.

2) I got an offer for tutoring yesterday but had to turn it down. The reason: my tutee did not speak nor read a word of English. I did not have my basic education training yet, so I referred him to professionals.

3) I also hjad my first beer in ages yesterday, and I think I no longer find it as enjoyable as before. I dunno, but the whole feeling of being tipsy does not seem so fun anymore.

4) Random quote: "When I first met 'Mr. Right,' I did not know his first name was 'Always.'" :))

5) Here's another: "When a man is single, he is incomplete. When he marries, he is finished." :P

I'll keep it at that for now.

Hello People!

So, I'm finally out of my depression--for now. I feel much, much better now compared to the past week. I realized that I was carrying some baggage from two years back that I simply had to get rid of. Anyway, I am now alive, kicking, and better than ever!

Anyway, expect a longer entry sometime this week. For now, I am enjoying my new lease on life.

A Thank You...

To all my friends who hung out with me in Glorietta 4 last June 4, thanks for the trip. It was loads of fun seeing everyone again (looks like we've all lost weight, must be stress).

Anyway, since you people are also my readers, I just want to say thank you. Oh, and also that I won't be updating this weblog until Monday next week. I want to take the week off from blog writing to think my life over a bit. Don't worry, it's not about something you people did. This has been a long time coming and I just want to do it now. Oh, and don't worry about Craptastic. I'll continue work on that one when I next get an inspiration.

Terminal Stupidity: Lito Lapid Bersyon
